"Tony Kofi's new trio is a stripped-down sports car of a jazz group, achieving maximum results with just saxes, drums and organ."

John L Walters, The Guardian
Tony trained at the legendary Berklee College of Music in Boston Mass. USA, on a full scholarship music diploma, his professional playing career spans over 20 years, during which time he has played with some of the most talented, enigmatic and famous musicians of our time, reaped a number of high-profile awards, recorded his own compositions (as well as those of Theloneous Monk): Plays Monk: All Is Know, Future Passed, and Silent Truth, all to increasingly high acclaim.
"The musicians take the familiar, and not-so-familiar, themes of Thelonious Monk, giving them a true contemporary feel while never losing sight of the tradition they represent. This album is going to attract attention from all areas of the jazz world."

Jazz CDs
Since the early 1990s he has played with (to name but a few): The Jazz Warriors, Gary Crosby's Nu Troop, Courtney Pine, Digable Planets, Donald Byrd, Eddie Henderson, Julian Joseph Big Band, Jazz Jamaica All Stars, The David Murray Big Band, US-3, Tim Richards' Great Spirit, The Grand Union orchestra, Lucky Ranku's African jazz all stars, Harry Connick Jr - on the Michael Parkinson Show, Joe Cocker, Jamaaladeen Tacuma's Coltrane Configurations Quartet, Abdullah Ibrahim's EKAYA, Ornette Coleman as well as composing original music for his Ten piece group, the Afro Jazz family.

In 2007 his Quartet: The Tony Kofi Quartet, performed all 70 of Theleneous Monk's compositions in a six-hour concert at the London Jazz Festival; In 2009 he headlined at the Rochester Jazz in New York and Manhatten and was very well received; Tony continues to commit much time to education, regularly running his own workshops and giving individual lessons.
"Kofi's musicians make a fiery, multi-layered noise, but they know when to bring it down to a whisper, such is the ingenuity of their arrangements."

John L Walters, The Guardian
